N-Dure unit

Step by step installation process

The following steps describe the process needed to take to install the N-Dure.

Step 1. Write down the serial number

Before doing anything, take a look at the back of your N-Dure unit and write down the serial number. You will need this later to check if your N-Dure is live, in your dashboard.

Step 2. Charge & Connect

The N-Dure is made to make things easy for you. As soon as you power a N-Dure unit on, the initialization and connection process will begin. The initialization and connection cycle can be monitored by looking at the two LEDs on your N-Dure unit.

The steps your N-Dure unit will cycle through are as follows and do not require any input from the installer. As a user, you can not change the order or skip steps in this process. When the cycle is complete, your N-Dure unit will soon show up on your dashboard.

Debugging

If this process takes more then 15 minutes or the LEDs don’t turn off there is a good chance you are in a low cellphone reception zone. Move your N-Dure unit outside and try again before doing anything else.

If you moved your charged unit outside and it the cycle still doesn’t finish, you can use the following two tables to find out where you are getting stuck.

Step 3. Mandatory install location

Installing the N-dure unit starts with picking the right location on the vehicle. Please take care to find a location on the vehicle that allows for the best connectivity.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Never put the N-Dure inside an iron frame or a cage.

  • Avoid putting it in a place with direct water spray (from tires).

  • Find the best position on the vehicle, as illustrated below.

  • Position the N-Dure unit with the cable outlet pointing to the back of the truck when installing it horizontally, or with the cable outlet pointing down when installing the unit vertically. Illustrated below.

Make sure to charge the N-Dure unit at least 8 hours before mounting it.

Step 4. Electronic install

Now that you have charged and connected the device, and you know where to install it, it is time to install the N-Dure unit on your vehicle. If you have not done these 3 things, please do so first by following the previous steps.

Basic install - connects every 5 minutes

The basic installation only requires you to hook the RED and BLACK wires from the N-Dure unit to the Power and Ground respectively.

The Power can be taken from a constant power source like the EBS-unit, which is preferred, or on the lighting of the vehicle. When you chose to take the Power from the lighting, one must ensure the drivers always drive with their lights on to keep the N-dure fully charged. If the drivers don’t always keep their lights on while driving, the N-Dure’s battery won’t last as long as could be expected.

In this install configuration, the N-Dure connects every 5 minutes when the truck is moving, and every 2 hours when it is parked.

Ground on the vehicle

High-frequency install - connects every 30 seconds

The high-frequency install is the same as the basic install, with the addition of connecting the N-Dure’s WHITE ignition cable to a switched power on your vehicle.

In this install configuration, the N-Dure connects every 30 seconds when the truck is powered on, and every 2 hours when it is parked.

Hour registration install

See “High-Frequency install” on how to install.

Forklift asset management install

The forklift install is the same as the high-frequency install, with the addition of connecting the N-Dure’s WHITE ignition cable to the D+ on your forklift.

Step 5. Find the N-Dure in your dashboard

When you’ve installed the N-Dure in your vehicle and you followed all the steps the next thing to do is to locate the N-Dure unit in your dashboard. Remember that serial number you wrote down in step 1? We’re gonna need that now.

Go to your dashboard at https://dashboard.route42.nl

  1. Log in with your account

  2. Go to the “Track” dashboard

  3. On the top left - where you can search assets - enter the serial number
