Step by step installation process

The following steps describe the process needed to take to install the N-Able 2.0.

Avoid testing the unit in an office building or testing it inside a garage. Bad connectivity will delay the installation process.

Step 1. Write down the serial number

Before doing anything, take a look at the back of your N-Able 2.0 unit and write down the IMEI number. You will need this later to register your N-Able 2.0 at the end of the installation.

Step 2. Find the best install locations

N-Able 2.0 positioning

Before starting the installation, decide where you will install the device. The installation location depends on the vehicle and the selected installation method. Follow these recommendations to ensure that the device works properly:

  • Install the device in a service access area (under the dashboard, behind the fuse box, etc.)

  • Fix the device firmly to the attaching surface, make sure it does not move or shake

  • Avoid installing the device near metal surfaces or cables

  • Do not install the device near heat emitting or moving parts 37

  • Install the device with an angle of up to 45° in any axis

Antenna positioning

It is recommended to place the GNSS antenna behind the dashboard as close to the windshield as possible and further away from the doors. It must be uncovered and facing up as shown in the picture below.

Incorrect antenna placement may result in reduced tracking accuracy.

Make sure you work in a location with good cell and GPS reception. It is recommended to install the N-Able 2.0s outside.

Step 3. Connect the N-Able 2.0 to your truck

There are two ways to connect the N-Able 2.0 in your truck.

Connect the N-able 2.0 to the FMS

Use the FMS harness to plug your N-Able 2.0 directly into the FMS. Plug the FMS harness into the 12 pin port on your N-Able 2.0 and plug the FMS plug into the FMS connector on your truck

Connect the N-Able 2.0 directly to the Canbus

When directly connecting the N-Able to the canbus you can refer to the following two pinouts.
